A modern veterinary clinic focused on individuals and quality of care
About Us
Located within the Charlottesville, VA community, Wag Veterinary is the culmination of owner Jesse Bejar’s lifelong dream to open an animal-centered clinic with a friendly, practical medical approach developed over his two decades in veterinary medicine.
We’re happy to see you.
At the heart of the clinic is a wagging-our-tails-off love of animals. We know the joy of watching our pooches chase balls in the yard and the hilarity of our cats' penchants for knocking items from high ledges. Endeared by the personalities of and our experiences with our own pets, we find joy and fulfillment caring for your cat and dog family members. At Wag, we know that having pets is a bond based in mutual trust and respect. We are honored that you choose us to support that bond and its longevity. We believe preventative care is at the heart of veterinary medicine and the key to an animal's full and happy life with the people they love and who love them.
Healthy pets, happy humans.
Our Services
Comprehensive & individualized medical care for your furry friends.
Primary Care
Annual exams, immunizations, parasite control, illness, weight management, pain management and end of life care are important areas of basic healthcare that we can help owners navigate through. Each individual pet and family will have different lifestyles and needs that make their situation unique. We recognize that the needs of one pet may not apply to others and work with clients to personalize the basic medical care of their dogs and cats.
Diagnostics
In-house laboratory services enable quick assessment of your sick pet and a comprehensive profile of external lab resources allow for more in-depth testing. Digital x-ray and ultrasound technology are available to aid in the evaluation of ill and injured animals.
Surgery & Dentistry
We offer a wide range of soft tissue surgery and anesthesia including dental cleaning, dental extractions and oral surgery.

Dr. Jesse Bejar earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M Veterinary College in 2004. Dr. Jesse's love for and interest in animals, however, has been with him since childhood. Growing up, he always felt an innate connection with cats and dogs and their faithful companionship. These early relationships imbued in him an abiding belief in the importance of animal care and well-being. They also ultimately guided Dr. Jesse into his career, which encourages him to use his intuitive, observational, and problem-solving skills to care for the pet family members of his Charlottesville-Albemarle community. Dr. Jesse believes it is his duty to help clients look broadly at their pets' medical conditions and options, offering clients a range of treatments from cost-effective to full-service solutions.Dr. Jesse met his lovely wife on a late-night emergency call early in his career. During the encounter he successfully relieved her horse from a bout of colic... and secured a life partner. The two headed off to Colorado for several years before returning to Charlottesville, his wife's hometown. They live on a small farm in Albemarle County with their two dogs, two cats, and three horses. They have 9-year old twins who bring lots of energy to the household and keep Dr. Jesse and his wife on their toes.
Dr. Jesse is excited to bring Wag Veterinary to the area and honored to serve the people and pets of Virginia.

Hi! My name is Novahly or Nova for short. At home I have two kitty cats named Finn and Frida who I adopted last November. I started my journey in veterinary medicine here at Wag this past spring as a vet assistant and have been loving every moment of it. So far I've thoroughly enjoyed learning the basics of veterinary care and look forward to expanding my knowledge.
